Марио Ливио (1945) – астрофизик, автор многочисленных научно-популярных книг, многие из которых стали признанными бестселлерами.

Учился в Еврейском университете в Иерусалиме, где защитил диплом по теоретической физике частиц. Также учился в Институте Вейцмана, где и защитил доктрскую степень физика-теоретика. С 1981 по 1991 год был профессором физики в физическом факультете Техниона – Израильского технологического института.

В настоящее время работает в Институте Космических Исследований НАСА. Опубликовал более 400 научных статей и книг. Своей особой миссией Ливио считает популяризацию науки. На его счету уже четыре научно-популярные книги, каждая из которых сразу же стала бестселлером.
